Where is Senegal?

This map gives an idea about where I will be located on the continent of Africa. From preliminary research, it looks like the climate is tropical, hot, humid, and rainy during the month of July. I've been advised to bring mosquito netting, bug spray, clothes that cover most of me, and a light rain jacket. ??? I promise to report back from Senegal with what works as far as attire.

Preparation

Travel insurance - Check
TB Test - Check
Wow. That part was easy! I'm really good at organizing lists and working my way through them to the completion of a project, but somehow I don't think I get, yet, what I am preparing for. This trip is a very big deal for me. I wonder when it will feel real. ?

AFRICA, HERE I COME!!!

As I let the news sink in, that I really have been selected to participate in the Fulbright Hays Summer Seminar in Senegal, West Africa, I am "out-of-my-skin" excited. So many things to do to prepare... travel insurance, physical exam, shots, and a multitude of questions to be answered. One thing I resolved to do, if I were selected, was to share the experience through a blog. I have been given this opportunity, and recognize that it is more valuable if I can share the things I learn with, not only my students, but our families, our community, and a wider group whose boundaries are only limited by the world wide web and are unknown at this point. Thank you for joining me at the very beginning of this journey. The actual trip will begin on June 30th. Stay tuned.
