As I let the news sink in, that I really have been selected to participate in the Fulbright Hays Summer Seminar in Senegal, West Africa, I am "out-of-my-skin" excited. So many things to do to prepare... travel insurance, physical exam, shots, and a multitude of questions to be answered. One thing I resolved to do, if I were selected, was to share the experience through a blog. I have been given this opportunity, and recognize that it is more valuable if I can share the things I learn with, not only my students, but our families, our community, and a wider group whose boundaries are only limited by the world wide web and are unknown at this point. Thank you for joining me at the very beginning of this journey. The actual trip will begin on June 30th. Stay tuned.

  1. I'm getting "caught up" on your blog from the beginning - and although my comments are a little late with regard to your original post, just wanted to let you know that I'll be faithfully following your journey from here on out! I'm so excited for you, Arlis!

  2. I'm so glad, Doris. I'll need these connections to home. A month is a long time. :)
