Arlis Groves: I teach middle school in California. The opportunity to participate in Fulbright Hays Summer Seminar in Senegal has presented itself. Okay, I worked really hard and had lots of help from my colleagues in the application process. Since my assignment allows me to teach world and U.S. history, travel to the West African region will greatly enhance my ability to engage my students. I look forward to the experience. I know it will change my life. To learn to blog, I committed to practicing while on the Teaching American History grant project in Alabama in June of 2010. Since it turned out to be relatively easy, and a great way to communicate with my students, colleagues, and family, I am also using the blog to share vacation stories and pictures with my family and friends.
