Monitoring West Africa's Natural Resources

At the Centre de Suivi Ecologique in Dakar, data is collected and monitored in order to inform the state department about the condition of Senegal's natural resources.

A CSE employee explains how West Africa's environmental data is collected from satellites, recorded, and compared with data in ten year increments to determine whether the vegetation is disappearing or maintaining a healthy vigor. Samba listens and translates the French language into English for those of us that are not fluent French speakers.

Steadman and Teresa analyze the physiographic maps displayed at CSE.

Sue listens and watches as Ousmane Bathiery demonstrates how data is retrieved.

C.S.E generously provided resource material to our group.
